Your Not-So-Secret Guide to Engaging Workers in Workplace Safety
Be sure to check out all the amazing information I have for you!
As you can tell from my website name, Lisa Knows Safety, this site is about ME and my love and knowledge of safety.
I have been in love with workplace safety since the 1990’s—yes way back when VCRs were popular. I got my first job as a Behavioral Safety Coordinator (oooh fancy title) and have never looked back. My goal of starting this website was to provide information to those who may just be starting out in their safety career. Or, maybe those safety professionals who simply need a new idea, a jump start, or some enthusiasm for their program.
Over the years, I have been invited to speak at conventions on various topics regarding lockout tagout, confined spaces, safety training, and OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program. And many times, I have been told, “You should write a book! You have so many ideas to help others in the same role.” So, after too many years putting it off, I finally did it! My book has been published and is available on Amazon! I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed compiling all the stories and examples.

Education
I received my bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health from Columbia Southern University.
I spent my first few adult years in the United States Navy and went to school much later in life after raising my family. Education is an important part of our family–my brother has his master’s degree from Georgetown and my sister has her doctorate from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Taking and passing the Certified Safety Professional® exam was also super important to me! I commend all my friends and colleagues who have taken classes, achieved a degree, or passed a certification exam. I know how much time it can take away from our families, friends, and life in general!
I recently went back to school, Columbia Southern University, to get my master’s degree in occupational safety and health. I always want to continue learning and identifying ways to keep workers safe.
